DropClaw Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the DropClaw browser extension for Google Chrome ("DropClaw", "the extension", "we", "us") handles information. DropClaw is built so that your lists and price data stay on your own computer.
1. Summary
- DropClaw has no user accounts and no DropClaw servers that receive your lists, browsing activity or price history.
- Your lists, products, price history, settings and license key are stored locally in your Chrome profile (
chrome.storage.local). - The extension connects only to (a) the store pages of products you chose to track, to read their current price, and (b) Polar (polar.sh), our payment and license provider, to process payment and verify your license.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data for advertising, and we do not use analytics, tracking pixels or third-party advertising code.
2. Information stored on your device
The following information is created by you and stored only in your Chrome profile on your device:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Lists and product entries (product page address, name, image address, price, currency, stock status) | To show and track the products you chose |
| Price history and target prices | To detect price changes and show history charts |
| Notifications generated by the extension | To show you past price alerts |
| Settings (theme, notification preferences, check interval, currency choice) | To make the extension work the way you set it |
| License key and its validity status | To unlock the paid edition |
This information is not transmitted to us. You can export it yourself with Download list, and delete it at any time with Delete everything in Settings or by uninstalling the extension.
3. Information sent to third parties
3.1 Store websites you track
To check prices, the extension requests the product pages you added, directly from those websites, at the interval you set. If one of those pages is open in a tab, the extension reads the price from that tab instead. These requests are made from your browser in the same way as when you visit the page yourself, so the website may receive the usual information any visit includes (for example your IP address, browser information and that website's own cookies). The extension reads only product information (such as name, price, currency, image and stock status) from these pages. Each website's own privacy policy governs its handling of that information.
When you use Current page to add a product, the extension reads product information from the page you are viewing at that moment. It does not read pages in the background for any other purpose, and it does not record your browsing history.
3.2 Polar (payments and licenses)
Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. ("Polar"), which acts as the merchant of record. When you purchase the paid edition, you provide your payment and billing details directly to Polar on Polar's checkout page. We never receive or store your card details.
- On the checkout page, the extension reads the license key displayed on Polar's order confirmation page (buy.polar.sh or polar.sh/checkout) so it can activate your copy automatically. It reads nothing else from that page.
- License verification: the extension sends your license key and our organization identifier to Polar's license API (api.polar.sh) to confirm that the key is valid. This happens when you activate a key and when you open the extension.
- Order information: as the seller, we receive from Polar the order information Polar makes available to sellers, such as your email address, name, country, the product purchased, the purchase status and the license key. We use it only to provide the product, verify licenses, handle support and refund requests, prevent fraud and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Polar's handling of your data is governed by Polar's own privacy policy: https://polar.sh/legal/privacy.
3.3 Email support
If you write to us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use them only to respond to you and keep a record of the request.
4. What we do not do
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not read pages for anything other than product information on the pages you track or explicitly add.
- We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except as described in section 3 (the store websites you track and Polar, which are needed for the extension's core features and payment).
- We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose of tracking product prices.
- We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- We do not run remote code. All of the extension's code is included in the package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar jurisdictions)
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR or the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) apply, we process the limited personal data we receive (section 3.2 and 3.3) because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the paid edition and its license), to comply with legal obligations (for example tax and accounting records), and for our legitimate interests in providing support and preventing fraud and abuse.
6. Retention
- Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the extension.
- Order and license information is kept for as long as your license is active and afterwards for as long as needed to handle disputes, refunds and chargebacks and to meet legal, tax and accounting retention requirements.
- Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for record keeping.
7. Security
Because your lists are stored locally, their security depends on the security of your device and Chrome profile. The extension communicates with Polar over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Data stored on your device is fully under your control and can be exported or deleted from Settings. For order information we hold, contact us at the address below. Some information may need to be kept where the law requires it. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
DropClaw is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Purchases must be made by a person who is legally able to enter into a contract.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when the extension's features change. We will post the updated version at this address and change the effective date above. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will make reasonable efforts to inform you, for example through the extension or its Chrome Web Store page.
